How saving little & often got me a pot of £5,000

This is a story all about how...small, consistent habits compounded over time to help me build a £5,000 savings pot with £22.72 monthly interest payments

In August I hit £5,000 of savings in my regular savings account.

I spent 2.5 years building that up.
It started in February 2023.
From then, each month I had a standing order that sent £150 to my regular savings account (woo 🥳 love automation so I don’t have to remember to do it myself)

Each month I got interest too. It started as 35p
Paid each month which meant that the next month my interest was on the amount I transferred in AND interest I had already been paid (got to love compounding)

By the end, in August 2025, I was getting £22.72 monthly

Too often we want instant wins and quick results
But success with personal finance actually comes from having the right habits
Which compound over time to yield decent results

And most importantly set the foundation for future financial success through good habits and the ability to stay consistent

So your One Simple Step this week is to

Take up some kind of regular habit, even if the numbers are small, that builds towards your financial future.

It could be putting a small amount into savings accounts regularly
It could be reviewing and cutting one unnecessary expense every month

To small habits that add up,
