January was a test run...
You still have 11 months of the year to make an impactful difference to your personal finances
Happy Sunday fellow financial freedom seeker,
We’re already one month in to 2025! 😲
If you feel like you hit the ground running with your financial goals in January - well done! (Did the lack of spending on alcohol in January help? 😉)
If you feel like you could have started better - don’t worry - there are still 11 months left where you can get back on track and reach your financial goals (I hope you set some, otherwise that might be why January didn’t feel like a great start).
Whether January felt like a success of failure
Your One Simple Step this week is…
To go back over your spending and income in January to assess what went well and what could have gone better.
Key things to consider are:
Did you have any unexpected costs - what were they and why did they arise?
How are your biggest expenses (like rent/mortgage, utilities, food) doing? Are there any places you can reduce those big costs? (That will have more of an impact than not spending £5 on coffee)
Are you spending unnecessarily? When you look through all your spending in your bank and credit card statements you might just find something you didn’t even realise you spend on.
Did you control your discretionary spending so it was a reasonable amount for you?
BONUS: if you find this newsletter useful and refer a friend to it (see your link below) I’ll give you our Your Finance Travel Buddy Cost Categoriser tool that will help you do this week’s One Simple Step more efficiently.
Til next week,
